| Rock Idle is Irish musician Derek Hagan. The torturous sounds of the pop music scene inspired him to do his own music. His 3 track release has a blend of pop/folk and mild blues.
Opening track Alcohol Dreams sounds like it could almost be an Oasis number. The starting lines "I wake up in the morning still suffering from the night before" will be well known by many a drinker. He sounds like a guy that has had a few hangovers. The rest of the song has a kind of happy go lucky sound to it, with the usual hooks, riffs and chord sequences.
Sunny Side Up 2 offers a delicate feel - light instruments, vocals, a catchy, dreamy guitar/keyboard hook and charming backing vocals by a lady who's name I couldn't find.
Train-A-Comin' wasn't as appealing to my ear buds. It sounds like it's a personal song "Father, one day we will meet again. Sister I know we will speak as well. Mother, everything will work out right." The music is very expressive in a subdued way and emotional - blues/slide/tranquil, but the vocals sound a bit strained and slightly stuffy although he does sound like he is kind of pouring his heart out.
As pleasant as the CD is, it doesn't really stand out to me, but worth a listen.
